Thank you notes: Weddings

It has been a little over a year now since my husband and I were able to host our friends and family to an amazing week of festivities under the Balinese sunshine for our wedding.  We could not be more thankful to those who traveled from near and far to make it the spectacular event, or events rather, that it was.  Even more sensational were the beautiful Thank You notes that we received from some of the guests that joined us.  I have attached a few of the wedding thank you notes that have stuck in my mind for various reasons below.

This lovely note was from our friends in London.  They are longtime family friends of my husband.  It reads...
"Dear Lauren & Simon,  Jack and I hope you had a wonderful Honeymoon.  We would like to thank you so much for inviting us to your wedding.  It was so fantastic, the very best wedding we have ever attended.  Everything was a dream!  We really did not want it to end.  The most romantic settings and the food was suburb.  But most of all the lovely warm and happy family atmosphere!  All the Ellis family hope you have a long healthy, and happy life together."

Here is a very sweet letter from a friend of mine who made the trip to Bali from New York.  It really made us feel fantastic, and I am sure it will do the same to you.  It reads...

"Dear Lauren & Simon-  We cannot possibly thank you enough for such an amazing week in Bali.  The love and attention that went into every single detail was incredible - it truly was a gift for all of us guests!  And Bali aside, it was the most joyous and happy wedding that I've ever attended.  :)
I hope you two finally get to relax!  We can't wait to see you back in New York, and would love to get together once you get settled.  Much love and many thanks,"

Just above, is a letter from my fabulous friend Lisa.  Her letters are always so wonderful, it's as if confetti and balloons come out of each envelope.

You cannot help but smile and feel lucky to have a friend like her when you read it..."

"Lauren & Simon,
Mazel Tov!! What an incredible week of festivities and celebrations for your wedding.  Indeed, the royal wedding had nothing on the Weiss/Joory wedding!!  It was so wonderful to be included in your celebrations, to have the chance to stay with you at Villa Morabito, and to be part of your inner circle for the week.  I can't thank you enough for the fabulous excuse to travel to Bali and be with you and your families.  I wish you the most fantastic honeymoon - safe travels back to NYC - all your friends will be waiting here to continue celebrating with you as you begin the next phase of your lives together.  Looking forward to many more joyous occasions with you tand wishing you all my congratulations on your marriage.  With love."

Lisa actually also sent us an equally fabulous letter sharing her excitement about joining us on the trip beforehand which I've attached below. (So, thoughtful!!!)

"Simon & Lauren - I am absolutely honored to be part of your fabulous and amazing wedding week in Bali.  You could not be more gracious hosts and I cannot believe all the work that has gone into what will no doubt be a magical experience for all!  Thank you thank you thank you also for giving me the privilege of staying in the villa with you and other special guests.  I literally feel so lucky to have this opportunity and I cannot wait to see you there!  All my love and best wishes for the big day.  See you so soon!  xoxo Mazel Tov!"

Honestly, this is the best!!!!

Please feel free to take some inspiration from these and any other letters that you see here for your notes and letters at home.

I figured since there is all of this chat of the wedding, I would include a few pictures from the event, as it really was special!

Until I get mine going, I thought you would enjoy this:

A few years ago (2007), I saw an article in New York Magazine with some fun little thank you notes from a few famous celebs to Helmut  Lang.  These letters where  then published as a supplement to a French fashion magazine called Purple.  Here are some excerpts from his gracious bold faced names...

Never mind the awards, I looked smashing, didn’t I?

For as long as I can remember, nothing has more consistently brought a smile to my face than the sight of a handwritten letter with my name on it hidden amongst everything else delivered in the mail.  Whether it was when I was a little girl running up the driveway to the mailbox to collect the letters for my parents or coming home to my apartment after a long day of work, the sight of handwritten letter always makes you smile.

From formal letters to short little notes, there are a million reasons to write...thank you notes, love letters, condolence letters, letters of introduction, birthday notes, and so on.  And, I cannot tell you how many times I have received a call saying - "I have to write a thank you note, but I don't know what to say.  Can you help me?"

So, I have created this blog to help showcase all of my favorite letters and notes that I have received, and hopefully get copies of yours that we can share with everyone out there!

I am going to start gathering my notes, and will be back with another post shortly.   You can gather yours too, take a picture or them and email them to me  lbj179@gmail.com.  (Feel free to black out any names that you don't want people to see).
